Moringa Tea: Nutritious Energy Drink!

Picture

The Moringa oleifera tree makes an excellent energy drink. The tea is loaded with antioxidants and vitamins that will help clear your mind and boost energy levels. You can prepare a tea by steeping a handful of dry leaves in hot water for a few minutes. Dried Moringa leaf tea creates a refreshing and nutritious energy boost you will come to appreciate. You might after a while find that it's more enjoyable to you than coffee!

To make Moringa tea you should harvest fresh leaves from your tree and dry them at room temperature. Place the leaves in a brown paper bag with some holes in it and hang the bag in a cool area of your home. In about 10-14 days your leaves should be dry enough to use.

Now if you like gadgets you might consider the Excalibur food dehydrator. This dehydrator can dry about a kilogram of leaves in 5 or six hours. This is an electric dehydrator with several trays. The Excalibur food dehydrators are available in several models starting at around $200.00 and the Excalibur D900 retails around $500.00 dollars. Excalibur food dehydrators are available in four, five and nine tray models.

Another option is to consider using a Vitamix.

To make the tea, shred or pulverize the leaves. Every cup of tea you drink will provide you with vital nutrients. Moringa tea is well respected and thought to be an excellent defense against damaging  free radical damage to your cells.

Moringa Tea Recipe: You can use your electric coffee maker to make Moringa leaf tea. Here is how to do it. Add the same amount of Moringa leaf to your filter as you would for each cup of coffee you plan to brew. For a single cup use between 1/2 to 1 teaspoon.

Iced Moringa Leaf Tea Recipe:

Add 1 - 1/4 teaspoon of Moringa leaf to 16 ounces of water. Mix with a little honey and fresh ginger and orange Juice to taste.

Blend in your blender or shake vigorously for one minute, add ice and refrigerate for 8 hours.

Substitute Coconut Juice or Sugar Cane Juice for the Orange juice to make a more diverse tea and keep your taste buds happy and wanting more!

Enjoy!
